Skills For Life Basketball Academy Camp (August 1-5)
Central Illinois’ largest and most competitive basketball camp is the highly regarded and ever growing Curley ‘Boo’ Johnson’s Skills for Life Camp. Campers from 64 different communities attended this unique camp last year and the camp is expected to grow again this year. One of the most special aspects of the camp is getting to meet and form friendships with so many players from across Central Illinois. State Courier sports journalist Dave Reynolds wrote this article in 2015 about the SFL Camp… Coming from parts unknown to Curley 'Boo' Johnson Camp
This camp is a fun and competitive way to end the summer basketball season. It falls after the summer travel season and before school starts. Don’t wait around to sign up for SFL camp this year. The camp is expected to reach capacity well before August and there are likely some players that will miss the boat this year if they wait around too long to register. You can register and learn more about the camp by visiting the following website… Curley Boo Johnson's Skills For Life Basketball Academy Camp. Also, visit the SFL Camp Facebook page for much more information and pictures of the SFL Academy, it’s coaches and campers… Skills For Life Basketball Academy Facebook Page.
March marked the end of another exciting and successful Morton Heat Basketball Season. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for their efforts this season! With the addition of the 3 Travel Light teams this past season, the Heat program was able to offer competitive basketball competition and development to over 100 Morton boys and girls in grades 3rd-6th.
We would like to offer special congratulations to our 6th grade boys and girls Heat teams for their outstanding Heat careers. Both the 6th grade boys and the girls teams finished their Heat careers among the most successful teams in program history. The boys finished with a 4-year record of 120-15 with 10 tournament Championships! The girls improved each year and finished their final season with a record of 33-5, winning 4 tournament Championships this past season, including the Morton Heat Classic Championship! They become only the fourth Morton Heat girls’ team in the last 10 years to win the Morton Heat Classic.
We wish our 6th grade boys and girls much success as many of them will have the opportunity to play school basketball for the first time in their lives. I have no doubt that they will all be well prepared for the journey that is ahead of them.
We hope to see all of our younger players back next season and hope that all of you work on your individual skills over the summer. Summer basketball teams, Summer camps, individual training and just playing pick-up basketball, will all help you get where you want to be coming into next season. Keep your hands on a basketball over the off-season if you don’t want to fall behind.
I would also like to give my most sincere gratitude to our Morton Basketball Association Board Members, all of our coaches and to all of the parents of our players. You are the reason the Morton Heat program continue to be the premier youth winter basketball program in Central Illinois. Thank you for all your efforts and… Go Morton Heat!!!
We are excited to launch the official "Morton Heat Facebook Page". One of our goals as an organization is to increase the exposure of the Heat program. The world loves social media these days, and there is no bigger player than Facebook.
We would really appreciate it if you could "Like" our Facebook Page. As an extra step, share our page with any of your friends. Especially friends that live in Morton and might have current, future or past Morton Heat players as kids.
Our Facebook page will be used to post pictures, announcements, results and more. While our homepage is our go to spot on the web - we know sometimes it's easier to connect on a Facebook Page. So Like us and connect with Morton Heat basketball.
