Thank you for visiting the Morton Heat Basketball website.  The goal of the "Morton Basketball Association" is to provide Morton area boys and girls the opportunity to learn and practice the fundamentals of basketball in a structured setting and to experience basketball at a competitive level against other teams their age.

Open Gym for Boys Entering 5th and 6th Grade

The Morton Basketball Association will be hosting open gyms for Morton boys entering 5th and 6th grade.  These open gyms will allow the boys to scrimmage and have fun against boys of similar age.  All open gyms will be at the Morton Junior High School.  Please enter the gym on the softball field side of the building.

There will be adult supervision at these open gyms to keep the games played the right way and organized.  This is intended for any incoming 5th and 6th grader -- not ONLY previous Heat players. Please spread the word to any potential basketball players that may be interested in this age group.

Open Gym Schedule

August 16:  7:00-8:30

August 23:  7:00-8:30

August 30:  7:00-8:30

September 6:  7:00-8:30

These open gyms are for 5th and 6th grade boys only.  Other age groups will not be allowed to participate regardless of skill level.

2017/2018 Morton Heat Travel Coaches Have Been Select

The 2017/2018 Morton Heat Travel coaches were recently selected.  The list of coaches for the upcoming season are below:

Morton Heat 2017/18 Tryout Dates & Registration

Tryouts for all Morton Heat travel and travel-lite basketball teams for the 2017-2018 season will be held at Morton High School on Saturday, September 9th and Sunday, September 17th.

All kids trying out are encouraged to pre-register to save you and us time on the day of tryouts!  PRE-REGISTER TO TRYOUT HERE.  The tryout times for each team are:

Saturday, September 9th

West Gym
• 2:30 - 4:00 pm, 3rd/4th girls
• 4:00 - 5:30 pm, 5th girls
• 5:30 - 7:00 pm, 6th girls

East Gym
• 1:00 - 2:30 pm, 3rd boys
• 2:30 - 4:00 pm, 4th boys
• 4:00 - 5:30 pm, 5th boys
• 5:30 - 7:00 pm, 6th boys

Sunday, September 17th

East Gym
• 2:30 - 4:00 pm, 3rd/4th girls
• 4:00 - 5:30 pm, 5th girls
• 5:30 - 7:00 pm, 6th girls

West Gym
• 1:00 - 2:30 pm, 3rd boys

Please enter the Morton High School through the row of red doors off the student parking lot on Jackson Street. There are two scheduled tryout sessions for each team. To be considered for a Morton Heat team, a player must attend at least one tryout session. In the event that a player attends both sessions, the player's highest score will be utilized. Players are encouraged to attend both dates.

The goal of the Morton Basketball Association is to provide Morton area boys and girls the opportunity to learn and practice the fundamentals of basketball in a structured setting and to experience basketball at a competitive level against other teams their age. 

Games/Practices: TRAVEL-Approximately 30 games are scheduled for each team, which are normally played on weekends beginning in November and continuing through February. Home games are played at MJHS. Practices are scheduled twice a week and are posted on the Morton Heat website.  TRAVEL-LITE-Approximately 18 travel games and 12 in-house games (played in Morton school gymnasiums) are scheduled.

Cost: TRAVEL-There is a $135 participation fee for each player, payable to Morton Basketball Association, the first week of practice. This fee helps defray the costs of referees, insurance, uniforms and tournament fees.  TRAVEL-LITE-There is a $115 participation fee that covers both Travel-Lite and In-House.

Once again, be sure to pre-register your child to tryout for a 2017/18 Morton Heat team.
